Benefits of going Electric

Here, you can discover all the benefits to owning an electric vehicle.

Tax

Currently, it doesn't cost anything to tax your low emission and pure electric vehicle. Decided by the Government in 2022, electric vehicles will no longer be exempt from paying road tax, starting from 1st April 2025.

Fuel Savings

On average, a 100-mile journey costs £18 in a petrol-fuelled car and £16 in a diesel car. The same 100-mile journey could cost you between £3 and £15 in an electric vehicle, depending on the electricity tariff. Dundee City Council introduced increased charging tariffs on 1st August 2024 to 50p per kWh for fast chargers, 55p per kWh for rapid chargers and 60p per kWh for ultra-rapid chargers. All our rapid chargers now take contactless payments!

Significantly less maintenance

Oil changes and maintenance of complex mechanical components will be a thing of the past as it doesn’t have an internal-combustion engine or a traditional gearbox, so it has far fewer moving parts.

Smart technology

Regenerative braking and set climate before you get to vehicle because heating and cooling while charging saves more battery for the road.

Clean

With no exhaust pipe, pure electric cars produce no carbon dioxide emissions when driving. Enjoy a breath of clean air and make our city a better place to be for pedestrians and cyclists.
