Dundee Recognised at Van Awards 2024

25 September, 2024 | Dundee Electric

Logistics UK celebrated the best van operators at a celebratory lunch on the 13th of September to announce the winners of its Van Awards 2024. The ceremony was a great chance for networking and hailing the van sector and the role it plays in UK logistics.

Dundee City Council was shortlisted for the Van Decarbonisation category amongst industry giants such as Aspire Defence, John Lewis Partnership, Reflex Vehicle Hire, Speedy Hire and the AA. At the end of the ceremony, Dundee’s electrification and decarbonisation strategy was recognised with the award sponsored by Lex Autolease.

Simultaneously, Dundee City Council will now be shortlisted for the Van Business of the Year category at the prestigious Logistics Awards 2024 taking place on the 12th of December in London.

Fair Work, Economic Growth and Infrastructure convener Cllr Steven Rome said: "This award represents more national recognition for the journey Dundee is undertaking. We have accomplished much, and we are working on actions set out in the Council’s Net Zero Transition Plan to become a more sustainable city and a more modern council.”

Kevin Green, Director of Policy & Communications at Logistics UK said: “Logistics UK is proud to be honouring the van sector and the role it plays in keeping the UK’s supply chain moving, so the winners should feel extremely proud. The competition was fierce this year and being selected as a finalist is a great achievement itself. 3.4 million people employed across industries ranging from engineering and construction to emergency and rescue services rely on a van for their job, so it is impossible to understate the contribution the sector makes to all our lives and the broader economy.”
